The Christian Archaeological Society (ChAE) was founded in 1884 and is one of the oldest scientific associations in Greece. Its aim is to promote research and all other scholarly activity in the field of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Archaeology and Art. To achieve its aims, the ChAE publishes with the peer review system an annual periodical of international status, the Deltion of the Christian Archaeological Society (DChAE, Δελτίον της Χριστιανικής Αρχαιολογικής Εταιρείας) since 1892 and organizes an annual three-day conference, the Symposium of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Archaeology and Art (since1981).

In 2015, the ChAE, in collaboration with the National Documentation Center, created the series Electronic Publications of the Christian Archaeological Society (ChAE e-publications), with the purpose to publish online, in open access, original scholarly monographs and edited volumes on topics of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art and archaeology.
